Have you seen a really bright star in the south over the past few days and wondered what it is? Could it be Jupiter, or Venus, or Sirius maybe? Take a look at our new night sky video which identifies this and many of the other objects you can see in the autumn night skies as seen from the UK.
We used a sensitive video camera to view the actual constellations as you see them, not as blobs on a star map with a mass of labels, so it gives you a real feel for what you can really see. The video works at about 10 pm in September, or 8 pm in mid October and even around 5 pm in November, so take a look now and amaze your friends with your knowledge of the autumn night sky! You could even spot the Andromeda Galaxy as the fireworks are whizzing past. How cool is that!
Oh, by the way, that bright ‘star’ is the planet Jupiter.
