Aurora Jan to Jun 2016
A weak glow that took a 30 sec exp at 1600 ISO, but it caught the glow of a coronal hole from my croft in Glenbarry, NE Scotland on the 11/12 January 2016 at 2200UT. After that, it clouded over.
Alan Tough caught this display on the 17th/18th Feb from Elgin in Morayshire.
On the night of 6th/7th March, a coronal hole started to strike the Earth, This combined with a strong negitive field, sent auroras as far south as Oxfordshire and gave a very lively display.

This superb blast of green rays was taken by Ken Kennedy from his home in Broughty Ferry, Dundee.
The most southerly report came from Mary Spicer in Tackley, Oxfordshire who caught these fantastic colours after staying in a frozen field till 2 in the morning.
The 7/8 April gave a nice display from a coronal hole that was visible across most of Scotland. This is the view from my croft in Glenbarry, Banff.
Don Mathews, up from the central belt in Sutherland also caught the display while he was looking at variable stars.

A green glow behind the usual clouds was all I got on the 8/9 May 2016
from my croft in Glenbarry, N E Scotland when a strong coronal hole struck.
It was still going on the 9/10 May but much weaker, and the sky up here is getting very light at night, so the aurora season is almost at an end for us northerners.
