The Mira type variable T Cephei ended its early 2017 “standstill” around six weeks ago and is now closing in on its 2017 maximum.<\/p>\n

This is forecast to occur in June, although the exact date and the peak brightness cannot be predicted in advance.<\/p>\n

As this light curve shows, there was once again an interval lasting for many weeks during which T Cephei “got stuck” near mag 8.0.<\/p>\n

However, where as the early 2016 “standstill” lasted for an unprecedented three months, this latest\u00a0 “standstill” appears to have only lasted for about two months.<\/p>\n
