Seven UK space ports planned

Post by brian livesey »

The first space launch from Britain will probably occur before 2024 and the Civil Aviation Authority will take over charge of regulation of UK commercial spaceflights from the UK Space Agency.
Grants totalling 40 million pounds have so far been awarded to companies working on ground and airborne launches. The government has already given £31m to Orbex to construct a rocket for launch from Scotland.
Spaceports will be located in Scotland, Wales and south-west England. The aim is to secure 10 per cent of the global space market by 2030.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the UK space sector is largely affected today so they are looking for cooperation with both industry and academia to ensure a strong recovery of the sector. The UK space industry offered grants of up to £75,000 to help finance space projects which can help them to move forward into the global space industry.
