There's a fabulous photograph of an eclipse shadow on the earth's surface, as viewed from space, on today's Spaceweather website. It was taken during an eclipse of 2017. It is a remarkable picture, and helps to put some perspective on the scale of these events.
I often comment on what lucky times we live in that enable us to witness the results of major technological leaps, which in turn allow us to see such things. Yet, I still find myself taking these things for granted. Perhaps that's because I was born into the era of the "space race" and beyond, and I have high expectations of what technology can and is delivering. However, I also wonder if the speed at which the advances are being made don't give us the time to adapt, appreciate, accept and learn from them.
Best wishes, Jeff.
