India's failed Vikram lunar lander has been spotted on the Moon's surface, a day after contact with the craft was lost.
Cameras on board the Chandrayaan-2 orbiter located the lander. The ISRO lost contact when the lander was in the final stage of a controlled descent near the lunar south pole.
Communication with the lander has still not been reestablished. The chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation said, "It must have been a hard landing."
