Nebulae in Auriga

Post by PaulB »

Here is my first attempt at imaging in full narrowband using, my Optolong l-eNhance filter, Canon 600D (Astro) WO Z61, and mounted on the Losmandy G11 - Gemini 2 goto.

I still need to learn how to process color NB images but. With practice. I will get there.

Guiding=PHD 2
Image capture=APT
Stacking=DSS
PP=Photoshop CC
Exposure T= 1hrs50m with 240 min exposures at iso800.
Date= Wednesday, January 6th

This is really beautiful. There’s some lovely subtle detail in the nebulae, and that grouping of stars with 17, 18, 19 and IQ Aurigae really adds to the scene.

You must be so pleased with this result.

Best wishes, Jeff.

A super image in a rich star field. We can only wonder which stars seen on the faces of the nebulae are in front and which are behind the nebulous clouds. Either way, the stars give a strong 3D effect.

Such a shame we can't see that with our unaided eye (or even through a telescope!). I wonder if any animals can?
