More views of the Ice Giants

Post by michael feist »

After a period of Grey skies, I was able to again pick out Neptune and Uranus in the early hours of this morning, Sunday 12/09/21.
NEPTUNE: 0040-0057 BST. Clouds breaking up leaving smaller sheets of cloudlets. Neptune was well placed and could be seen in 10x42 monocular, and better still in the Ultima 65 scope on tripod, from the garden. Then became rather cloudy, but by 0300-0330 BST the sky was now very clear with good transparency, so used 10x42 monocular to see it again. (obs.#139)
URANUS: 0300-0350 BST. With the very clear sky and good transparency, viewed Uranus, high in the south in 10x42 monocular and also was visible in the 6x21 Pentax monocular with little difficulty. (obs.#1552).
Regards maf.
