Eyepieces and Filters
Hi all, I have a sky watcher 250p and I am looking for better quality eye pieces and filters to be able to get better views of planets. I have the standard 25mm and 10mm eye pieces that came with the scope and I am waiting for delivery of a x2 Barlow. Should I go for a 5mm eye piece such as this: ht...

Southern Sky
I can not see the southern horizon from my garden and so I am missing Saturn and Jupiter. Do they ever appear away from the southern horizon or do I need to pack my flask and drive somewhere better or move house?

Re: books
I am more interested in text book style. The life of a star and the individual planets in more detail than 2 or 3 pages

Re: What to look at?
OK so I bought a Rigel Quikfinder for £30 from FLO and tried it out tonight and it works really well. I can now have confidence that I am looking at the correct star.

It gives a reverse image. I have bought a red dot finder and will see how I get on with this. Thanks for all the help!

Re: What to look at?
I have a SkyWatcher 250p and I use Star Walk 2 on my phone. The phone app is not always 100% accurate as I think my phone compass is not 100% accurate. I use the 2020 Collins Guide to the Night Sky. I also have a PDF version of turn left at Orion. I am struggling to find stars through my finderscope...

What to look at?
As a newbie, I am still learning and I was out last night with my SkyWatcher using a 10mm and 25mm lens. The moon was amazing but still disappointed with what I can see of Mars (basically a very bright star with a red tint). My garden faces north and I can usually see the plough, cassiopeia and pola...

Re: Did I see Mars?
Thanks for the advice. I don't have any serious sight issues, I just need glasses for reading and computer work. I am looking through the scope without glasses. I will try using the other eye and look into a 6mm eye piece and see if this helps.
Thanks again,
Simon

Re: Did I see Mars?
It does have a 1200mm focal length. It did not come with a 2x Barlow. To see more should I go for a 2x Barlow or a 6mm eye piece? Interesting to hear about glasses. I use them for reading only and having looked into the 25mm eye piece for any length of time, I have found a have a headache after. Wou...
