Re: Venus-Moon on Monday 6th December

Jeff, this is the most wonderfully eerie Astro image. The clouds are grasping at the Moon and Venus is nearly extinguished. Your photos are always atmospheric. Thanks, Bob

Re: Comet Leonard (C/2021 A1)

You are fortunate to see it Mike. Urania has punished me with eternal cloud for my skepticism (see above). Bob

Re: Venus-Moon on Monday 6th December

What a lovely description. You are lucky to be able to walk out in such a natural spot and see the rising stars. Good wishes to you both for the season, Bob

Re: Plato albedo features 4

Skybrowser, All these drawings were around the time of full moon when the markings are most prominent, but they were not easy because of the glare. The drawing dated 1997 May 15 shows some internal shadow and the markings are not really visible. The last 3 drawings were done with red, yellow, and bl...

I wonder if they are visible in binocs. I see the 2013 radiant is close to Gamma Cas according to Wikipedia. Bob

Re: Stars in the area of Uranus

I notice also Mike, that farther to the west at about RA 2h 20m the star 54 Ceti is clearly within Aries on my old Skalnate Pleso Atlas sheet VI. Uranus hasn't shifted much since I noted its position on my map on 7/11/20. Best wishes, Bob

Re: Plato Crater albedo features

Please go to the Images section for larger views. I am putting all 14 sketches there. Remember that the craterlets were not seen; they were on the outline that I used to sketch in the albedo features. Happy to discuss the conclusions I drew from this project. Bob

Re: Plato Crater albedo features

I did 14 sketches in this series. I'll see if I can put them up as separate images. Problem is that our Ipad only produces thumbnails when uploaded. Cheers Bob

Plato Crater albedo features

Just thought I'd post a couple of pages from my observing book. From late 1996 to 1998 I made a series of sketches showing the light patches on the floor of Plato that have intrigued observers since at least the time of Beer and Madler. A Stanley Williams charted them somewhat schematically as Light...
