Re: What is your favourite silly Unit in astronomy
We all know that e=mcc
So here are the units:
m is the mass of a bag of sugar (I'm confusing 'mass' with 'weight')
c^2 is (distance/time)^2
or d^2/t^2
or possibly acre/square lunation
Should there be a constant k in there somewhere?

Re: Silly Quiz
Your question did not specify the epoch.
These two will be around 23°.5 from the celestial equator in just 13,000 years from now.

That's John Hosty, who discovered Nova Sagittae in January 1977.

Re: Distance of nearest stars
"Is this a super-relativistic effect in your case Stella? Bob" No, this is my age - the light seen from Alioth and Alcor left the star when I was born. (clue: use Stellarium, click on the star and it will give details including distance in light years). I assume they obtained the data from...

"According to the Guardian there's a high possibility of another "beast from the East".
But it's approaching from the West!
So I prefer to think of it as a "Pest from the West."

These three are magnitude 6.6.
Their designations depend on which catalog you are accessing.

That should be "Aerial phenomena" not "Ariel phenomena". The latter is an entirely different kettle of fish.

Definitely a highlight. In fact a 530km (330 miles) high light.
