A short report this month as all five observations were submitted by one section member.<\/p>\n

Ian Papworth, <\/strong>based in Bedfordshire, sent in five digital images of deep sky objects.<\/p>\n

NGC 6888 is an emission nebula in the constellation of Cygnus.\u00a0 Also in Cygnus are NGC 6992, the Eastern Veil, a part of the Veil nebula supernova remnant;\u00a0 and beta Cygni, also known as Albireo, a well – known double star.<\/p>\n

Ian also imaged M27, the Dumbbell planetary nebula in Cygnus and NGC 7023 the Iris reflection nebula in Cepheus.<\/p>\n

At an apparent magnitude of 7.5, M27 was the first object of its kind to be discovered by Charles Messier in 1764.\u00a0 With and angular size of 8 x 5 arcminutes it can be seen with binoculars.\u00a0 The central white dwarf is magnitude 14 however and is more easily seen in images.<\/p>\n
