Richey Chretien telescope and a QSI 583 camera plus red, green and blue filters.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4242\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4242\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4242\" src=\"https:\/\/www.popastro.com\/deepsky\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/07\/2019.06.-M99-DD.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.popastro.com\/deepsky\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/07\/2019.06.-M99-DD.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.popastro.com\/deepsky\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/07\/2019.06.-M99-DD-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4242\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">M99<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>M99 clearly has a distorted shape, with an asymmetric\u00a0 core and one spiral arm extended away from the rest of the galaxy (on the left in this image).\u00a0 A past gravitational encounter with NGC 4262, another galaxy in the Virgo Cluster, is a possible cause.\u00a0 As a result, M99 is forming new stars at a higher rate than might be expected for this type of galaxy.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4243\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4243\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4243\" src=\"https:\/\/www.popastro.com\/deepsky\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/07\/2019.06.-M102-Davd-Davs-cro.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.popastro.com\/deepsky\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/07\/2019.06.-M102-Davd-Davs-cro.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.popastro.com\/deepsky\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/07\/2019.06.-M102-Davd-Davs-cro-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4243\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">M102<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Steve Plenty,<\/strong> new to this section, sketched globular cluster M13 in the constellation of Hercules.\u00a0 Steve has two Newtonian reflestors:\u00a0 a 10&#8221; f5 Dobsonian and a 6&#8221; f5 Skywatcher150P.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4246\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4246\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4246\" src=\"https:\/\/www.popastro.com\/deepsky\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/07\/2019.06.-M13-S.-lnty.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.popastro.com\/deepsky\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/07\/2019.06.-M13-S.-lnty.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.popastro.com\/deepsky\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/07\/2019.06.-M13-S.-lnty-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4246\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">M13<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>M13 is an easy globular for binocular observers, and is resolvable into countless stars away from the absolute centre in a 150mm telescope.\u00a0 M13 is about 22,000 light years from the Earth, and is around 145 light years across;\u00a0 its stars are ancient, 12 billion or more years old.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ian Papworth<\/strong> also observed M13 using a Skywatcher 150P Newtonian telescope;\u00a0 taking a digital image with an Altair Hypercam 183 C colour camera:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4248\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4248\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4248\" src=\"https:\/\/www.popastro.com\/deepsky\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/07\/2019.06.-M13-an-aort.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"584\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.popastro.com\/deepsky\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/07\/2019.06.-M13-an-aort.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.popastro.com\/deepsky\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/07\/2019.06.-M13-an-aort-257x300.jpg 257w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4248\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">M13<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark Beveridge<\/strong> used a Celestron 200mm Edge f10.4 SCT and a SXR &#8211;
