image composite) which lie in the constellation of Ursa Major.\u00a0 M81 is known as Bode&#8217;s Galaxy after the astronomer who discovered the pair in 1774, Johan Elert Bode.\u00a0 M82 is often called the Cigar Galaxy, and is experiencing high rates of new star formation, probably triggered by interaction with M81;\u00a0 it is much more luminous than our own Milky Way galaxy.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4217\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4217\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4217\" src=\"https:\/\/www.popastro.com\/deepsky\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/06\/2019.05.-M81-and-M82_off-lston.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"234\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.popastro.com\/deepsky\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/06\/2019.05.-M81-and-M82_off-lston.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.popastro.com\/deepsky\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/06\/2019.05.-M81-and-M82_off-lston-300x140.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4217\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">M81 and M82<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>M81 is on the left in this image.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ian Papworth<\/strong> sent in two images, using\u00a0 a Sky Watcher 150p Newtonian reflector and an Altair Hypercam 183c pro camera.<\/p>\n<p>NGC 6888, known as the Crescent Nebula, is an emission nebula in the constellation of Cygnus.\u00a0 NGC 6960 is known as the Witches Broom, and is the Western part part of the Veil Nebula, a supernova remnant also in Cygnus.\u00a0 The bright star in the image is 52 Cygni which makes this object more difficult to see for visual observers.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4219\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4219\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4219\" src=\"https:\/\/www.popastro.com\/deepsky\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/06\/2019.05.14_NC-6888-aort.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.popastro.com\/deepsky\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/06\/2019.05.14_NC-6888-aort.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.popastro.com\/deepsky\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/06\/2019.05.14_NC-6888-aort-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4219\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">NGC 6888<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4220\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4220\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4220\" src=\"https:\/\/www.popastro.com\/deepsky\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/06\/2019.05.-NC6960-an-aort.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"329\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.popastro.com\/deepsky\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/06\/2019.05.-NC6960-an-aort.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.popastro.com\/deepsky\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/06\/2019.05.-NC6960-an-aort-300x197.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4220\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">NGC 6960<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Veil or Cygnus Loop had a progenitor star possibly 20 times more massive than the sun.\u00a0 It went supernova some 8,000 years ago and now has an angular diameter of around three degrees on the night sky;\u00a0 about six times the width of the full moon.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark Beveridge<\/strong> submitted five images to the section, all galaxies to be found in the constellation of Coma Berenices:\u00a0 M63 the Sunflower Galaxy, NGC 4490 the Cocoon Galaxy, NGC 4631 the Whale Galaxy, the NGC 5350 group of galaxies and NGC 5371.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4223\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4223\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4223\" src=\"https:\/\/www.popastro.com\/deepsky\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/06\/2019.05.13-M63-M.Bvrd_.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.popastro.com\/deepsky\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/06\/2019.05.13-M63-M.Bvrd_.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.popastro.com\/deepsky\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/06\/2019.05.13-M63-M.Bvrd_-300x240.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4223\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">M63<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>M63 has a lack of large scale spiral structure in visible light, a form described as flocculent.\u00a0 It has a two &#8211; H814 mono camera plus red, green and blue filters.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Steve Norrie<\/strong> imaged emission nebula Sh2 &#8211; 155, the Cave nebula in the constellation of Cepheus, and two galaxies:\u00a0 M51, the Whirlpool galaxy in Canes Venatici and M101, the Pinwheel galaxy in Ursa Major.\u00a0 Steve employed a Celestron 200mm Edge SCT with a 0.75 focal reducer and a Starlight Xpress Trius 694 mono camera plus narrow band filters for the emission nebula, red green and blue filters for the galaxies.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4230\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4230\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4230\" src=\"https:\/\/www.popastro.com\/deepsky\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/06\/2019.05.-CaveNebula_C8_NorrieSD.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"404\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.popastro.com\/deepsky\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/06\/2019.05.-CaveNebula_C8_NorrieSD.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.popastro.com\/deepsky\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2019\/06\/2019.05.-CaveNebula_C8_NorrieSD-300x242.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4230\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sh2 &#8211;
