Aurora reports for 2014<\/h1>\n

Despite the sun being at the high point in its cycle, aurora are few & far between, with most sightings confined to northern Scotland.<\/p>\n

The first sighting this year was taken by Alan Tough from Elgin on the 7\/8 Feb showing the cloud problems<\/p>\n

we often encounter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The Great Storm<\/span><\/p>\n

 On the 27th February at 1600UT a coronal mass ejection hit Earth, causing wide spread active aurora visible as far south as northern France. The display was visible from 19.30 on and it was still reaching 25dg high at 0300 on the 28th, when I gave in.<\/p>\n

  This photo was taken by Alan Clitherow from Central Scotland after the strongest part of the storm. <\/p>\n

The display was also seen by Mell Jeffery from north Yorkshire.<\/p>\n

This panorama was taken from my croft in Glenbarry, NE Scotland at 2230 during the most active time.<\/p>\n

It reached to the overhead(90dg hi) and was 180dg wide.<\/p>\n
