Spectacular graze occultation of Jupiter

On the early evening of Saturday 26th January, 2002, the weather didn't help much to allow British observers to view the spectacular close approach of the Moon to the planet Jupiter. But here are some images received from section members who were lucky with clear skies.

If you missed the occultation as, sadly, many people did because of inclement weather; don't worry there is another occultation of Jupiter due on Saturday 23rd Febuary. It takes place in the early hours of the morning and it is visible throughout the entire country

After that there is a very long wait until the whole of the UK is able to see the Moon engulf Jupiter in the night sky again--- It takes place at 22h 33m on 21st November, 2034 !
