Observation Spotlight
A ball of stars
This superb photo of the globular cluster M13 in Hercules was taken by SPA member Christopher Hill, of Manchester, using a Pentax K100D DSLR through a Sky-Watcher Explorer 200 reflector. See more here on the Forum.

If you have an observation that could be spotlighted here, contact the webmaster.

starMars disappears: There is a chance for telescope users to find Mars in broad daylight on May 10, with the aid of the nearby Moon. The planet actually gets covered for a time from most of the UK. See Sky Diary in Popular Astronomy for details.
Saturn:Ringed wonder: The magnificent planet Saturn reached opposition on February 24 and is now well placed in Leo for observing throughout the evening, shining at mag 0.3. A small telescope will be enough to reveal the wonderful and famous rings encircing the planet.
Jupiter:Giant on view: The king of the planets, Jupiter, can be seen again by early morning observers. From the UK, you will find Jupiter lying low in the sky in Sagittarius before dawn. A small telescope is enough to show its belts.
