It has been a quiet start to the 11/12 season, with bad weather playing its part in blocking many observations.
This shot by Alan Tough oppened the season, taken on the 5/6 August 2011 from Elgin, Scotland.

green glow through a lot of patchy cloud.
I got the same display from my croft in Glenbarry, Banffshire, but with a lot more cloud.
